Innovative Courses for Adult Learners

Learning a foreign language as an adult is very different from learning it as a child and requires a very different approach and techniques which will help the adult acquire language much FASTER!!!

Learning English should, thus, help learners with their immediate communicative needs and train them to become efficient communicators in order to take on and play the roles they wish within the community. Stale grammar teaching, or rote learning are far from the best course of action, particularly for the adult learner who has no time to wait and needs quick results.

APPROACH & METHODOLOGY

Some of the principles which form the basis for the course design and the methodology used are as follows:
 

	Our approach is designed to satisfy  immediate communicative needs and promote oral fluency
	Language is best learnt through interaction and experience - so is grammar
	Adults learn faster than children - our programmes are shorter and much more comprehensive
	Authentic materials are used extensively - both for Listening & Reading skills development
	Our syllabus is flexible allowing individuals to develop in areas of individual interest and/or concern
	The materials and activities are motivating - adults come to their language classes at the end of a long day at work and need to be relaxed and motivated
	Materials and activities reflect adult reality - our students put what they learn to practice immediately

CELT Athens is the leading teacher training institution in Greece. Here  you can see some of our clients - foreign language centres as well as the local Unions of Foreign Language Centre owners in Greece for whom CELT Athens has been the official Teacher Training Institution organising their seminars for the past 15 years.
 
All tutors are highly qualified,  either native speakers of English or bilingual in English and Greek. They have specialised in adult foreign language education and have wide and varied experience of teaching English as a Foreign Language to adults.

The members of the tutorial team are also involved in training teachers and are always abreast of the latest developments in Methods and Techniques appropriate to tutoring and supporting adult groups. They are all RSA Cambridge Diploma holders and hold M.A. qualifications in TEFL, Linguistics or Applied Linguistics.

CELT Athens is a Cambridge Authorised Teaching Awards Centre with the right to offer courses leading to the prestigious international Certificates & Diplomas in English Language Teaching to Adults ( Cambridge DELTA Diploma and Cambridge CELTA) and to administer their examinations on behalf of Cambridge. 

The levels described below (A-C2) refer to the specifications of the Common European Framework.

Tuition Fees
Tuition quoted per level above applies to groups of 6-8  students for intensive or part-time courses.

ΕΧΑΜ PLUS
By paying a fee of 100 euros per unit only, you can be taught the strategies for success in examinations through:

• Individual tutorials for listening, speaking and writing skills.

• Practice Tests either on-line from your home or at CELT

Each unit of exam preparation includes:

• 3 hours of individual tutorials

• work on 4 Practice Tests

• one mock Test

You can sign up for as many units as you need before an examination.

INTENSIVE SUMMER & FALL COURSES
These courses run throughout the summer. Each level takes four weeks to complete with 4-5 hours of tuition every day depending on the level.

ONE-TO-ONE & TAILOR MADE COURSES
One-to one programmes can be arranged for general purpose English or for Special Courses (e.g. Business English or English for Academic Purposes).  Hourly rates start at 30 EURO for general English(levels A-B).    

Hourly rates quoted above apply only for lessons held on CELT Athens premises. Hourly rates for lessons at home or at your office are standard throughout and are agreed upon on the basis of level, content, focus and travelling distance for the tutor.

Minimum Age: We offer lessons to adults but also to children. Special arrangements should be made for groups of young children

• One meal with course tutor

• One, two or three day excursions with meals included (from €150)

• Greek music lessons (€50 per hour)

• Greek dance lessons (€30 per hour)

• Greek cookery lessons (€60 per lesson)

• Athens sightseeing tour (€60-100)

• Airport transfer by taxi (€60 each way)
